➤ Why do Jain monks not wear clothes?
Jain Digambar Sadhus renounce everything by their own will. When a person becomes a Jain Sadhu, he has to renounce all worldly things and that is the meaning of being called Digambar. The person who becomes a Jain Sadhu does not have to keep any feelings like lies, greed etc. in his mind. For them, wearing clothes is a part of this materialistic world. Jain Sadhus keep only as much money or things with them as they need. To become Digambar, one has to renounce this worldly attachment. It is believed that just as children are truthful in childhood despite being naked, similarly Jain Sadhus renounce clothes and become Muni and become free from all feelings.
