A river basin will be constructed in Manikachand pond at a cost of two crores.
Anbamkumar, Patna: A river basin will be constructed in Manikchand pond at a cost of Rs.2 crore. It will have a fountain, cleaned and beautified. An estimate for this has been prepared and given to the authorized Standing Committee for consideration and approval at the next meeting. Municipal Commissioner Animeshkumar Parashar had also said that during the discussion raised by local body councilor (Ward 10) Geethadevi in the municipal board meeting held on Tuesday, approval should be sought soon. Manikachand pond is 92 meters long and 82 meters wide and the entire pond looks dirty due to lack of cleaning of the surface for a long time and silt in the water. At many places, swamps have formed at its base, making it difficult for visitors to bathe in the pond or during the Sat festival. The pond is surrounded by a 40 feet brick concrete ghat. Due to lack of maintenance for a long time, it is broken in many places. Sunil Kumar, the husband of the councilor of the area, said: Under the renovation work of the pond, first a pump will be installed and the dirty water in it will be removed. After this, the mud and marshy soil at its bottom is cut away. After that, a river bed is built into a net and the entire bed is leveled and the Ganges sand is laid on it and leveled completely. After that, a summer boring is installed, filled with water and fresh water. There is also a beautification plan to build a fountain in the middle of the water. Along with this, the broken parts of the Ghat will be repaired and new stairs will be constructed to replace the damaged ones. Along with this, tiles will also be laid to beautify the mountain road. Four changing rooms and toilets will also be constructed along the ghat. Boating facility will also be established in the pond and four boats will be brought in for this purpose. Along with this, swings will also be installed across the ghat for children to play. Disclaimer: This is an automated news feed of Prabhat Khabar newspaper.
