Maruti Grand Vitara Blasts Past 2.2 Lakh Units In 22 Months: What Makes It So Popular?
The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara was launched nearly two years ago to compete with the Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq and the Kia Seltos. Carefully positioned in the compact SUV segment, the Grand Vitara managed to become quite popular mainly due to its fuel efficiency, value for money proposition, premium cabin and the brand image. The brand sold 1,00,000 units of the SUV in just 12 months and further managed to sell 2,00,000 units in a time span of less than two years.
In contrast, the Hyundai Creta which is on sale from 2015 took 25 months to achieve the sales mark of 2,00,000. Now, let’s talk about the yearly sales of the Grand Vitara.
In the FY2023, the brand sold 51,315 units of the SUV. Please note that this is just six months of sales as the car was launched near September end.
In the next FY2024 about 1,21,169 units of the Grand Vitara were sold which represents a significant increase in the sales numbers. In this FY2025, from the months of April to June about 27,066 units are sold.
What makes the Grand Vitara so popular?
Brand Value
Maruti Suzuki is a pretty old and trusted brand in the country with a wide network of dealer and service centers. Additionally, the customer service and the overall experience provided by the brand is quite satisfactory while keeping the costs at lower end. Over the years, they have managed to build trust among the Indian consumers. This is one of the key factors for the sales performance of Grand Vitara.
Fuel Efficiency
Maruti Grand Vitara Hybrid delivers an ARAI certified 28 Kmpl mileage
One of the unique selling point (USP) of the Grand Vitara is its highly efficient hybrid system. The Grand Vitara and its badge engineered version, the Toyota Hyryder are the most fuel efficient cars in the segment. The ARAI claimed mileage of the Grand Vitara is close to 28 KM/L. On the other hand, the Hyundai Creta petrol has a claimed fuel efficiency of just 17.4 KM/L. Even though the hybrid system comes at an additional cost, it saves a lot of fuel expenses.
Future-Proof
The future of diesel cars is cloudy in the country especially in Delhi. The Grand Vitara is offered in both pure petrol and hybrid system which means that once bought, you can drive this car without any worries for at least fifteen years. The hybrid system solves the fuel efficiency issue as well.
There’s something for everyone
The ex-showroom price of the Grand Vitara starts at Rs. 10.99 lakh and goes up to Rs. 20.09 lakh. This price range includes both the pure petrol and hybrid trims. This is another great selling point for the Grand Vitara as it caters to consumers of various budgets. Some people who are planning to buy a sub 4m SUV can extend their budget and buy the base spec Grand Vitara which comes with more than enough features.
Compact yet spacious
The Grand Vitara is a perfectly sized car which features large enough cabin for five people while maintaining a compact size that allows easy maneuverability. The car can be easily driven through traffic and tight spaces.
