Minister George Kurien inquired about the condition of the victims as the central government is providing all possible assistance as there has been massive destruction in Wayanad.
Rains and landslides have wreaked havoc in Wayanad, killing 150 people and injuring many others so far. While the central government is also engaged in rescue operations, the government is making all efforts for the safety of the people. Central government is ready to provide all assistance in Wayanad. Union Minister George Gurion visited Wayanad district on instructions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He visited the relief camps there and spoke to the victims. A compensation of Rs 2 lakh has been announced from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund to the people who died in the landslide that occurred on the morning of July 30 in the Meppadi area of Wayanad district of Kerala. 50,000 will be given to the injured. Central government is making all efforts. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to state Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and assured him of all possible assistance from the Centre. Along with this, the Prime Minister also expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased on his social media handle X. Union Minister George Kurien is currently inspecting the situation in Wayanad. He said that PM Modi is closely monitoring the situation. Apart from the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister also condoled the people who lost their lives in the accident. NTRF personnel have been instructed to rush to the spot immediately for rescue operations. Kurian met the people affected by the landslide in Wayanad and also visited the rescue operations. After the landslide, exits from some villages were closed and various efforts were being made to evacuate people. The state government is planning to conduct an airlift to save the people of the area. The military has also taken responsibility. Rescue operations are ongoing to help the people.
