45% work on Patna Metro line completed
Correspondent, Patna: The work on Corridor-2 (Patna Junction to New ISPT via Rajendra Nagar via Ashok Rajpath) of the Patna Metro Rail Project has progressed significantly. The underground excavation in this route is divided into four parts. Excavation of a portion of the twin tunnel from Moinul Haq Stadium to Patna University has been completed. Two TPMs (Tunnel Boring Machines) have been commissioned for twin tunneling from Patna University to Gandhi Maidan (via PMCH) and from Gandhi Maidan to Patna Junction (Buddha Smriti Park) in two sections. Tunneling work on this route is 45 percent complete. First TBM launched in April 2023: Work on the construction of the underground tunnel and station on Corridor 2 began in March 2022, but in April 2023, the first TBM was launched from Moinul Haq Stadium. The two TBMs landed here will complete a journey of about 1.5 km up to Patna University in May 2024 and form a twin tunnel. These two TPMs have now moved from the University to Gandhi Maidan (via BMCH) to excavate the second section. They have to complete a journey of 2302 meters. In the third section, two new TPMs have also been commissioned on a one-and-a-half kilometer stretch between Gandhi Maidan and Buddha Smriti Park. Out of which, one TPM has arrived near Akashwani station and another TPM has arrived near JP Kolombar. This metro tunnel will go beyond Akashwani to Buddha Smriti Park via Thakbangla Junction.
