The budget session is going on in the Parliament and at this time the Union Budget is being discussed in both the houses. Amidst the ongoing discussion in the Parliament, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed the Chief Whip in the Lok Sabha on Monday while 16 other MPs have been made Whips.
In a letter sent by the party to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, it was told that 4-time MP Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal has been made the party’s chief whip in the Lok Sabha. While 16 other MPs have been appointed as whips to assist him. The names of the MPs who have been made whips are Dilip Saikia, Gopalji Thakur, Kamaljit Sehrawat, Santosh Pandey, Dhawal Laxmanbhai Patel, Devsingh Chauhan and Jugal Kishore Sharma.

Apart from these, other MPs who have been made party whips from BJP include Sudhir Gupta, K. Srinivas Pujari, Smriti Uday Wagh, Anant Nayak, Damodar Agarwal, Konda Vishwaeshwar Reddy, Satish Kumar Gautam, Shashank Mani and Khagan Murmu.

The Chief Whip and the Whip play an important role during the proceedings of Parliament. Their job is to instruct the party MPs to be present in the House on important bills and occasions and to coordinate.
4-time MP from West Champaran
Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal, who has been made the Chief Whip of Lok Sabha by BJP, is an MP from Bihar. He was successful in winning the election from the West Champaran Lok Sabha seat of the state by a margin of more than one lakh votes. Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal has been the former state president of the party in Bihar. He has reached Parliament by winning the election for the fourth consecutive time.
His father Madan Prasad Jaiswal has also won the election from Bettiah Lok Sabha seat. Dr Sanjay Jaiswal, who completed his MD from Darbhanga Medical College in Bihar, contested the election for the first time from West Champaran Lok Sabha seat in the year 2009. This seat came into existence only in 2008. After winning in 2009, Dr Sanjay scored a hat-trick by winning the 2014 and 2019 elections. He managed to win the election for the fourth consecutive time in the 2024 elections. Also, he was made the state president of the party in Bihar in September 2019.
