Tomato price hike: Tomato prices have seen a huge boom in Indian markets. Tomato prices have increased due to supply disruption due to rains. On July 27, the retail tomato price in Delhi was Rs.77 per kg, but in some areas it has crossed Rs.80 per kg based on quality and locality, according to reports. Tomatoes are available at subsidized prices at these locations in Delhi-NCR: Krishi Bhawan, CGO Complex, Lodhi Colony, House Gas Head Office, Sansad Marg, INA Market, Mandi House, Kailash Colony, ITO, South Extension, Moti Nagar, Dwarka, Noida Sector, Sector 14 and Sector 76, including Rohini and Gurugram, where the retail price of tomato is Rs.60 per kg. The NCCF statement said that the facility will start from July 29, 2024 and will be gradually expanded to other locations in Delhi-NCR in the coming days to ensure low cost availability of tomatoes across Delhi. Subsidized tomatoes are available at various locations including Krishi Bhawan, CGO Complex, Lodhi Colony, House Ghaz, Sansad Mark, INA Market and many parts of Noida, Rohini and Gurugram. The objective of this initiative is to stabilize the market and provide adequate cost relief to consumers. NCCF said the intervention underscores the government's efforts to reduce the impact of rising food prices on consumers.
