Coal India is working fast on 119 projects
Kolkata. Coal India Limited (CIL) has a capacity of 896 million tonnes per annum and Rs. It is rapidly implementing 119 projects with a sanctioned capital of Rs 1,33,576 crore. In its latest annual report, the world's largest miner said these projects are at various stages of implementation and are part of the company's efficiency strategy to increase production capacity and meet future coal demand. However, the company did not provide any timeline for the capital expenditure. But it said the development of these projects involves substantial investment in advanced mining technologies and infrastructure aimed at increasing productivity and ensuring sustainable mining processes. The company aims to achieve one billion tonne production by 2025-26 to meet the country's coal demand and support the goal of a self-sufficient India. The company's production in the financial year 2023-24 was 77.36 crore tonnes. CIL said the coal mining project has been completed in 2023-24 with a sanctioned capital of 20 million tonnes and Rs 1,783.09 crore. It demonstrates our ability to execute large-scale projects within stipulated deadlines. In the last financial year, 16 coal mining projects with a capacity of 17.04 crore tonnes per annum and capital of Rs 27,087.69 crore were approved. According to the report, CIL adopts latest equipment, advanced exploration and evaluation technology, efficient mine planning and development. The company plans to buy more capacity equipment worth Rs 3,700 crore in the next financial year. The company has set a capital expenditure target of Rs 15,500 crore in FY 2024-25.
