A still of a video footage showing drugs being seized by police of Ha Tinh Province.
A Lao man was arrested by police of central Ha Tinh Province and their colleagues in neighboring Laos for transporting 209 kg of drugs from Laos to the Vietnamese border.
Vu Mua Vu, 20, was driving a car on July 21 when he was stopped by police in Laos’s Bolikhamsai Province, who suspected that he was transporting banned goods into Vietnam.
Vu attempted to escape from the car and ran away, but he was apprehended by the police.
Authorities found dozens of bags containing drugs, including ketamine, heroin, meth and ecstasy pills, in the car. The drugs totaled to around 209 kg.
Vu said he was hired to transport the drugs from Bokeo Province to a Lao district that neighbors Ha Tinh, before hiring locals to transport the drugs through the jungle into Vietnam. The drugs were then supposed to be transported to northern Vietnam localities, then to another third country.
An investigation is ongoing.
