Ranchi: CPI Maoists have called for a 24-hour Bihar-Jharkhand bandh on Thursday in protest against the arrest of three people including Comrade Jaya Hembram. The Police Headquarters has alerted the SPs of all the districts of the state regarding the Naxalite bandh. Naxalites celebrate Shaheed Week every year from 25 July to 3 August.
Maoist spokesperson Azad has said in a press release that after the arrest, the police is keeping Jaya Didi in custody and torturing her mentally and physically. Shanti Kumari and Doctor Pandey, who were arrested along with Jaya Didi, have been made to disappear by the police with the intention of killing them. Revolutionary women's movement leader Jaya Didi has been suffering from a serious disease like cancer for the last several days. Due to this, she was getting her treatment in Dhanbad. But due to some traitors, the police got information about her. After this, the police arrested her.
In view of the Naxalite bandh, the police headquarters said that the Naxalites can attack the railway tracks, bridges, security camps, police stations or the police. For this reason, special vigilance should be exercised in sensitive areas from the security point of view in Naxalite-affected areas. All the police security camps, pickets and police stations have been put on high alert keeping security in mind.
