New Ford Endeavour – Bigger, Better & Comes With A Lot More Tech

This move comes after the vehicle, known globally as the Ford Everest, was recently spotted in Chennai.

This added more fuel to discussions about the American carmaker’s comeback. The Ford Endeavour, a familiar name in the large SUV segment and a former rival to the Toyota Fortuner is undergoing a transformation that could set new standards in its category.

Endeavour to Everest: A Transformation

The latest iteration of the Ford Endeavour, or Everest as it is known in international markets, marks a significant evolution from its predecessor. Unveiled in 2022, the SUV has seen substantial growth in dimensions.

It is now 146mm wider, although it sits on the same ladder-frame architecture. The length and height have also seen a slight increase, with the wheelbase extending to 2,900mm, ensuring more room inside.

Design-wise, the new Endeavour has retained its dominant road presence but adopted a sharper and more squared-off shape. The front fascia now features a larger grille with Matrix LED headlights and LED DRLs connected by a horizontal bar.

The SUV’s side profile boasts more character lines and a pronounced shoulder line for a tougher appearance. Depending on the variant, the alloy wheel size varies from 17 inches to 21 inches, while the rear sports L-shaped LED taillights.

Features and Performance

The interiors of the Ford Endeavour come with an all-black theme and are equipped with modern amenities. These include a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, powered front seats, powered tailgate, and auto-folding third-row seats, among others.

Under the hood, the Everest SUV spotted in India is available with either a 2.0-litre turbo diesel or a 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel engine. The former delivers 168bhp and 405Nm of torque, whereas the latter offers 208bhp and 500Nm of torque.

Transmission options strictly boil down to just a 6-speed automatic transmission for the turbodiesel variant and a 10-speed automatic transmission for the bi-turbo variant. The turbo diesel variant is also expected to be offered with a 4X2 layout.

It is also worth mentioning that the Ford Everest is sold in Sport and Platinum variants, featuring a more potent 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel engine that produces 247bhp and 600Nm of torque.

Ford Motor’s anticipated re-entry into the Indian market with the revamped Endeavour could indeed reinvigorate the large SUV space, offering stiff competition to established players like Toyota Fortuner.

While official confirmation from Ford is still awaited, the anticipation for the Endeavour’s return in 2025 continues to build. The updated specs and features suggest that Ford is poised to make a strong comeback, aiming to reclaim its position in the competitive Indian automobile landscape.
