Parliament Budget Session 2024 Updates: The monsoon session of Parliament is starting from Monday 22 July. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Economic Survey in Parliament today and the Union Budget in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. This will be the first budget of the third government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This time the monsoon session will run till August 12. Meanwhile, the government will also complete some legislative work. It is being told that at least six bills can be passed. At the same time, the opposition is preparing to surround the government on many issues like appointment of Deputy Speaker in Lok Sabha, NEET UG paper leak, order to write the names of shopkeepers in Kanwar Yatra.
Before the monsoon session, the government called an all-party meeting on Sunday, in which leaders of 44 parties participated. Apart from the Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also attended the meeting from the government's side. Rajnath Singh chaired this meeting held in Parliament House. Some other Union Ministers also attended it. From the opposition, leaders of Congress, Samajwadi Party, Aam Aadmi Party, YSR Congress, MIM and BJP's allies participated. Leaders of Mamata Banerjee's party did not attend this meeting as they had attended the annual Shaheed Diwas rally held in Kolkata on Sunday.
In the all-party meeting, Congress demanded that the post of Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha be given to the opposition and also said that the issue of NEET UG should be discussed in the Lok Sabha. Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav raised the issue of writing the name of the shopkeeper on the shops on the way of UP Kavad Yatra. Let us tell you that this order of the Uttar Pradesh government is being criticized everywhere. The Uttarakhand government has also implemented this rule in Haridwar.
However, after the meeting, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that JDU demanded special state status for Bihar in the meeting, YSR Congress Party also demanded special state status for Andhra Pradesh. Trinamool Congress leader Derek O'Brien had already written a letter to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju saying that his party has a program in Kolkata, so he will not be able to attend the meeting.
