Let us tell you that both Hindus and Muslims claim Bhojshala. According to Hindu organizations, Kamal Maulana Mosque located in Dhar is actually Maa Saraswati Temple Bhojshala, which was built by Raja Bhoj in 1034 for the study of Sanskrit. Later, the Muslim ruler here converted it into a mosque. A petition was filed by Hindu organizations regarding this, on which the Indore Bench of the High Court ordered ASI to conduct a survey on March 11.
According to the Dhar district administration website, Raja Bhoj (1000-1055 AD) was the greatest ruler of the Parmar dynasty. He established a college in Dhar, which later came to be known as Bhojshala, where students came for education. This Bhojshala or Saraswati temple, which was later converted into a mosque by the Muslim ruler here, its remains can still be seen in the famous Kamal Maulana Mosque. At present, the Bhojshala complex is under the protection of ASI and Hindus are allowed to worship in the complex every Tuesday, while Muslims are allowed to offer namaz in the mosque located on one side of the complex every Friday.
