Neither India nor the NDA won an independent in Rupali, with RJD's Bhima Bharti finishing third.

By-election results for Rupali constituency in Bihar are out. Independent Shankar Singh won this constituency defeating the NDA and Team India. The seat fell vacant after the resignation of JTU MLA Bhima Bharti. After that Bhima Bharti contested the Lok Sabha elections on behalf of RJD but lost the elections. After losing the election, RJD again fielded him as a candidate from this constituency. RJD candidate Bhima Bharti was third and JDU's Kaladhar Mandal was second. Shankar Singh, who once led the Northern Liberation Front in Kosi region, has won the Rupali assembly by-election defeating all the political bigwigs of Bihar. In Rupali, both the RJD and the JDU gave tickets to a candidate from the Gangauda caste, the Most Backward. However, independent Shankar has broken all caste equations and won. The Rupali by-election, held after Bhima Bharti's resignation, is considered the quarter-final of power in Bihar. Assembly elections are due in Bihar next year. The Rupali seat fell vacant following the resignation of former JTU MLA Bhima Bharti. Bhima Bharti became an independent MLA from Rupali constituency in 2000. After that Bima has been continuously serving as MLA on JDU ticket since 2005. This time, Bhima took the gamble of contesting the Lok Sabha elections; RJD fielded him as candidate from Purnia constituency. Bhima Bharti lost the Lok Sabha elections. But the RJD fielded Bhima as its candidate in the by-election held in the Rupali constituency, which was vacant due to Bhima's resignation as MLA. Bhima Bharti and independent Pappu Yadav had a lot of tussle over the Purnia seat. Pappu Yadav had to contest the election as an independent, whereas after winning the election as an independent from Purnia, now Pappu Yadav is seen giving a statement in favor of Bhima Bharti in the Rupali by-election. Even though the Congress tried hard including Samrat Chowdhury, Chirag in Rupali and India's Tejashwi Yadav, this defeat in Bihar is a big lesson for NDA and India. However, even during the election campaign of independent Shankar Singh, there was talk that Shankar Singh would remain in the NDA after winning the elections. Shankar Singh was also associated with the LJP for a long time. Semi-Final Elections: Bihar is due for final assembly elections next year. Bihar has never had a semi-final of power in Bihar before. Four MLAs from Bihar (Jitan Ram Manjhi, RJD's Sudhakar Singh, Surendra Yadav, CPI(ML) Sudama Singh) became MPs in the Lok Sabha elections. By-elections will be held for these 3 constituencies. It is considered as the semi-final of the election.
