Paytm will not collect joining bonus from an employee who has been reprimanded by the Ministry of Labour
Paytm: Online payments app provider Paytm will no longer collect joining bonuses from laid-off employees after being reprimanded by the labor ministry. After being reprimanded by the Labor Ministry for allegedly terminating the employee, the Paytm management appeared before the Bengaluru Regional Labor Commissioner and agreed not to recover the bonus due from the employee. Citing official sources, the Labor Commissioner settled the matter and Paytm agreed to pay the notice period to the employee. Sources did not disclose the name of this employee associated with Paytm. As of now, online payment platform Paytm has not responded to this issue. Sources said the employee accepted the financial offer offered by Paytm at the time of his dismissal before the Central Regional Labor Commissioner in Bengaluru. Paytm forced layoffs According to sources, Bengaluru's Central Regional Labor Commissioner took swift action after an employee complained about alleged layoff practices at Paytm. A representative of the Paytm management appeared before the commissioner and agreed not to withdraw the joining bonus and not to pay the notice period to the employee. The situation of some Paytm employees is unclear. Some other employees have also reportedly expressed their displeasure over the manner in which the forced layoffs were carried out by Paytm.
