Floods in Bihar: Gopalganj. After heavy rains in Nepal, 2 lakh 97 thousand cubic feet of water was released from the Valmikinagar Dam at 7 pm on Saturday. As a result, there has been a flood in the Kantak river. Around 5 lakh cubic feet of water is expected to come again on Sunday. In such a situation, if the water is released on Sunday, the flow of the river will cause havoc in Gopalganj. The next 48 hours are crucial for the Kantak river, said the water resources department. DM Muhammad Maqsood Alam and all officials of the district administration went to monitor the banks during the night. DM Mohammad Maqsood Alam is monitoring the water level of Kandak river. The DMK said that as of 6 am on Saturday, the water flow was 88,000, but as the evening approached, the amount of water released from the dam had doubled. One lakh 61 thousand cubic feet was measured at 12 noon and two lakh 97 thousand cubic feet at 7 pm. All Zonal Officers have been instructed to create awareness in the villages within the dam in their respective areas. Also, information has been taken regarding the transportation of goods and livestock to safe places. DMK has asked for 24-hour vigilance on the shores. Due to this, the district administration has issued a warning to the villagers living in low-lying areas to move to higher places. Sadar Zonal CO Ghulam Sarwar, through miking, appealed to people to be cautious of their goods and livestock and take shelter on higher ground as floods are likely. Due to the rising water level, there is a risk of flooding in villages located within the embankment from Kuchayakot block to Sadar block, Manja, Barauli, Chitwalia and Baikundpur area. Monitoring of banks has been stepped up in Pasahi, Sibaya, Bhagwanpur, Vishunpur, Pattara, Dandaspur and other areas. Kala Madihania, Durg Madihania, Salepur, Dhola Sibaya and Rampur Madho areas of the block are considered to be flood affected. Intensive surveillance is being carried out along the coasts in these areas. Many panchayats in Manja block have been affected by floods due to the increase in water flow in the Gandak river. Gadgarwan, Vishunpur East, Vishnupur West, Paraipati, Jadopur Tugaharan, Rampur Tengrahi and Zakiri Dhola in Gopalganj block and Nimuiya, Bainsahi, Gausia, Purina, Madhu Saraya and Kwajepur panchayats in Manja are at risk. River danger in seven panchayats of Barauli: Due to rising water level of Gandak river, Sonbarsa, Mohammadpur Paktia, Devapur, Hasanpur, Rampur, Salempur East, Salempur West, Badarde and Sarbra are at risk of flooding. At the same time, the people of the region are in fear due to the Kantak river. Here there is a danger of the bank collapsing due to the pressure of the river. Sidwalia and Baikundpur constituencies, located on the eastern side of Gopalganj, have been hit by floods. Amarpura, Tumaria and Kashi Tengrahi in Chidwalia block will be affected by flood due to rising water level of river Gandak while Baikundpur block includes Barsauni, Basgat Mansuriya, Usri, Kamhari, Faisullapur, Pyarepur, Bakri and Bhangra.
