UPI: India's UPI is making waves in the world and now you can make payments at this location in Paris too
UPI: As part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts to expand UPI internationally, India recently launched the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) at the iconic Galeries Lafayette department store in Paris. The innovative UPI system was launched by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) in 2016 and has revolutionized the way people and businesses handle financial transactions. Due to its easy-to-use interface and quick processing, UPI has become widely popular in India and has changed the digital payments landscape. Now it is spreading all over the world. Embassy of India in France On July 3, 2024, the Embassy of India in France announced the official launch of UPI services at the prestigious Galeries Lafayette flagship store in Haussmann, Paris. Earlier, UPI was successfully implemented at the Eiffel Tower. Indian Ambassador to France and Monaco Javed Ashraf along with Galeries Lafayette CEO Nicolas Haus and Lyra Group Chairman Alain Lahore conducted the UPI transaction at the store. Ashraf later confirmed the successful launch of the UPI service in a post on social media X on Thursday. Earlier this year, India officially launched UPI at the Eiffel Tower, seen as a step towards fulfilling Prime Minister Modi's vision of expanding UPI globally.
