SIT to file objection on Prajwal Revanna's bail plea: Karnataka High Court
In the case against Haasan former MP Prajwal Revanna, who is facing charges of rape and sexual harassment, the Karnataka High Court has said that the SIT should file an objection to his bail plea. Justice Krishna S. A separate bench headed by Dixit directed the SIT to file its objection before the court. On June 26, the special court rejected Revanna's bail plea. Revanna is currently in judicial custody. Revanna has approached the court seeking bail in the first case registered against her. Revanna was arrested by the police on May 31. When Revanna landed at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, the police arrested her. The allegations against Brajwal surfaced during the Lok Sabha election campaign. Meanwhile the obscene video went viral. After this came to light, the Karnataka government took action and set up an SIT. SIT summoned him but he did not join the investigation. Subsequently, it was revealed that Revanna fled to Germany on a consular passport. Revanna became MP for the first time in 2019. In 2019, Prajwal Revanna was elected MP from Hassan Lok Sabha constituency in Karnataka. This is also his first win. At that time Revanna got 6 lakh 76 thousand 606 votes with 52.91 percent votes. Revanna Haasan also contested the Lok Sabha seat in 2024 elections, but this time she had to suffer a crushing defeat. HD Deve Gowda, former Prime Minister and grandfather of Prajwal Revanna, has been a three-time MP from this constituency. He won in 2004, 2009 and 2014. Prajwal's elder brother Suraj Revanna has also been accused of sexual harassment. One of his accomplices has made this allegation. Subsequently, Suraj lodged a police complaint against the accused and his family. She claims that the duo tried to extort money by filing a false sexual harassment case. On receiving the complaint, the police registered a case against both of them.
