The central government has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court stating that it does not want to cancel the NEET-UG examination and has explained the reason.

The government has said that if there is no proof of paper leak across India, it is not right to cancel the entire exam as the exam results are already out. The cancellation of the exam is an act of cheating lakhs of candidates. While insisting that the examination should not be cancelled, the government cited the Supreme Court's 2021 judgment in DSSP v. Sachin Kumar. The government has informed that a high-level committee has been constituted by the Ministry of Education to give suggestions to improve the NDA and conduct the examinations properly. The committee, headed by former ISRO chief Dr K Radhakrishnan, will submit a report to the ministry in two months. Investigations are on to trace the gang behind the paper leak and the absconders. The central government has said that it will expose who is behind the paper leak. Who is behind the paper leak will soon be revealed. Every aspect is considered and every fact is investigated. Citing the recently implemented Public Examinations Act, the government has come up with stringent laws to deal sternly with offenders in such cases in future. Varun Bharadwaj, Director of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court on behalf of the government. In the affidavit filed, the Ministry of Education explained that the government and its institutions are committed to conduct all competitive examinations in a fair and transparent manner. Keeping the question papers secret is the biggest priority of the government considering the exams. The government has said that those who violate the confidentiality of the question papers are guilty. The government will take full force of law and punish them. The government has informed that lakhs of people who have worked hard have written the exam and got good marks. It is only because the government is making all efforts to save them and their families from unnecessary problems that the real facts are being ascertained through investigation. The ministry said that the CBI is investigating the NEET exam paper leak case and has handed over the investigation to a central agency, and an FIR has been registered and the CBI is investigating. There has been a paper leak in several states. On 23rd of last month, the CBI registered an FIR under Sections 420, 419, 409, 406, 201, 120B of the IPC and Sections 13(2), 13(1) of the PC Act. NEET UG exam was held on 5th May. 24-25 lakh students participated in it. The result came on June 4. Ever since the election results were announced, questions started to arise. A total of 67 candidates have topped the exam. All scored 720 out of 720. This is the first time that students have secured 100 percent marks in such a large scale. After this, the issue became heated all over the country. The matter is currently before the Supreme Court. So far 24 petitions of various types have been listed in the entire matter. A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud will hear the case on July 8.
