India And America Will Share Biometric Data Of Air Passengers News

Biometrics data can include all or part of data such as fingerprints, iris scans, and facial recognition.
Biometric Data News: India and America have become more serious about flight security than ever before. Keeping this in mind, India and America have soon signed an agreement to share biometrics data of passengers traveling between the two countries.
It is worth noting that both the countries have reached an agreement in principle on this issue. The main reason for this is that with the increasing number of air passengers, security is also emerging as a big issue. In such a situation, both the countries will have the record of every passenger traveling by air with the help of biometrics data. So that in case of any emergency, both the countries can take action on it as soon as possible and help the people.
Biometric data will be safe for one year
Let us tell you that during this time, biometrics data includes all or one of the data like fingerprint, iris scan and facial recognition. Biometrics data will remain safe for one year. America currently has such flight related data sharing agreement with NATO and some other countries only.
The biometrics data of passengers will now be with the governments of both the countries. From India's side, the IB will keep this data, while in America, the Customs-Border Control will keep this data. Both the government agencies will be the sharing agencies. The data will not be with any third agency. There will also be no risk of privacy violation. During the recent India-America Aviation Summit, US Transportation Security chief David Pekoske said that both the countries will also share cyber security data.
One Stop Screening Agreement
According to information received from the media, now people traveling from India to America will get a big relief. During this time, there will also be a one stop screening agreement between India and America. Due to this, the luggage of Indian passengers will not be checked again and again.
For example, for a flight to New York, the luggage of the passenger will be checked at the New Delhi airport itself. Then if the passenger takes a connecting flight from New York to any other city in the US, the luggage will not be checked again. According to the US Aviation report, by 2030, 26 lakh passengers will travel between India and the US every year. In 2023, this figure is expected to be 15 lakh, while in 2024, this figure is expected to be 17 lakh.
