Pa Ranjith responds to rumours about teaming up with Ranveer Singh, confirms Hindi film debut
In a recent interview, the director confirmed that he will be making a Hindi film but did not reveal more information.
Ranjith’s film Kaala started many conversations all over the country. After the release of Kaala, it was expected that Pa Ranjith would work on the biopic of tribal independence activist Birsa Munda. However, the project, after the initial announcement, was put on hold. Ranjith went on to work on his other projects. Meanwhile, it was rumored that the director is teaming up with Ranveer Singh for the Hindi project.
While Ranjith confirmed his Hindu debut, he denied teaming up with Ranveer Singh. “I am doing a film in Hindi but the hero has not been decided yet. It will be announced at the right time,” he was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
He is also in the news for his second collaboration with director Mari Selvaraj of Pariyerum Perumal fame. Ranjith’s Neelam Studios will bankroll Mari’s upcoming film, starring Dhruv Vikram and Anupama Parameswaran.
Ever since the premiere of Sarpatta Paramabarai on Amazon Prime Video, Ranjith has been a much-spoken-about director across the country. Currently, he is busy wrapping up his film with actor Vikram, titled Thangalaan. The historical drama is set in Kolar Gold Mines during the pre-independence era. It is about the oppression of the tribal people by the colonial power. Other than Vikram, it has Malavika Mohanan, Parvathy, and Pasupathi in lead roles.
