Home Ministry gave important responsibility to Bansuri Swaraj

Newly elected MP from New Delhi Lok Sabha seat, Bansuri Swaraj has been made a member of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). The Union Home Ministry has also issued a notification in this regard.

After being given the new responsibility by the Home Ministry, Bansuri Swaraj on Thursday took the oath of faith and allegiance to the Constitution of India as a member of the NDMC and Delhi Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar took the oath of allegiance to the post of Chairman.
Naresh Kumar has taken the additional charge by taking oath as the Chairman of NDMC. On July 3, the Union Home Ministry had appointed BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj as a member of NDMC. The new Chairman of NDMC, Naresh Kumar, is also the Chief Secretary of Delhi.
The New Delhi Municipal Corporation Council now has the following members – Chairman and Delhi Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar, New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj, Vice-Chairman and former Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay, Kuljeet Chahal, Vishakha Sailani and Girish Sachdeva. The two council members from the Aam Aadmi Party are Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Delhi Cantt MLA Virendra Singh Kadian. The rest of the NDMC members are bureaucrats.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Bansuri contested from the New Delhi seat against AAP's Somnath Bharti. Before Swaraj, the New Delhi seat was held by BJP leader Meenakshi Lekhi.
Bansuri Swaraj is a lawyer by profession and has reached the Lok Sabha by winning the election from New Delhi seat in the Lok Sabha elections. Bansuri Swaraj is the daughter of former Union Minister Sushma Swaraj and former Mizoram Governor Swaraj Kaushal. Bansuri is a graduate from Warwick University and Oxford University. Rahul Gandhi's statements made in the Lok Sabha two days ago as the leader of the opposition have not only been condemned, but an apology has also been demanded.
