When is Devshayani Ekadashi in 2024? Know the date and method of worship

When is Devshayani Ekadashi 2024
According to the Panchang, Ekadashi Tithi will start from 8:34 pm on Tuesday, July 16 and will continue till 9:03 pm on July 17. Devshayani Ekadashi fast will be observed on July 17. Ekadashi fast will be observed the next day i.e. on July 18.
Importance of Devshayani Ekadashi
Mythological beliefs about Devshayani Ekadashi say that by observing this fast, a person receives the special blessings of Lord Vishnu. Also, all sins are destroyed. By observing the fast of this Ekadashi, a person attains salvation. Along with this, the deities also observe fast on the day of Devshayani Ekadashi and worship Lord Vishnu. From the day of Devshayani Ekadashi, Lord Vishnu goes into Yog Nidra for 4 months and hands over the responsibility of creation to Lord Shiva. Chaturmas starts from Devshayani Ekadashi itself. No auspicious work is done in these four months. Because, Lord Vishnu is not able to participate in auspicious works for these four months. Therefore, auspicious works like marriage, mundan, griha pravesh etc. are not organized during this period.
There are various beliefs about Devshayani Ekadashi. When Lord Vishnu got tired fighting with Shankhachur, all the gods prayed to Lord Vishnu to take rest and go to sleep for some time. Lord Vishnu went into Yog Nidra for four months on the prayers of the gods. The second belief is that Lord Vishnu had given a boon to King Bali that he would come to Patal Lok every year for four months and live in the form of Vaman. Therefore, Lord Vishnu goes into Yog Nidra and lives in Patal in the form of Vaman.
