Hemant Soran, who got bail in the Jharkhand High Court, will approach the Supreme Court

Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has been acquitted in the land scam case. He has been granted bail by the Jharkhand High Court. However, challenging the high court's verdict, the ED has appealed in the Supreme Court, and after getting bail from the high court, Soren will be out of jail after five months. After hearing arguments from both sides, the Jharkhand High Court adjourned the verdict on Soren's bail plea to June 13. The former Jharkhand Chief Minister filed a bail petition in the Jharkhand High Court on May 27. The ED arrested Hemant Soran on January 31 in a money laundering case related to the land scam. The Enforcement Directorate had told the court that Hemant Soran also took help from officials to acquire 8.5 acres of land in Patkai. The ED said Bhanu Pratap, a revenue employee of Bhadkai and his press advisor Abhishek Prasad alias Bindu, corroborated the ED's claim during the investigation. During the Lok Sabha elections, Soren had approached the Supreme Court seeking interim bail. However, the court refused to consider Soren's plea as Soren did not state in his petition that the trial court had accepted the chargesheet in this case. The ED argued that if Hemant Soran is granted interim bail for election campaign, all the jailed leaders will seek bail. What is the charge against Hemant? Hemant Soran has been accused of swindling 8.42 acres of land in Ranchi's boat. According to the Enforcement Directorate, the land belongs to land allotment and no one can buy or sell it. Despite this, Hemant seized it illegally in 2010. According to the investigating agency, after coming to power, Hemant Soran was busy measuring this land through the local authorities. In the high court, Hemand's lawyer described the ED's allegations as fabricated and said that Hemand had nothing to do with the land. During the hearing in the High Court, the Enforcement Directorate has submitted WhatsApp chats of people associated with the chief minister's office and statements of revenue officer Banu Pratap Prasad.
