Spirit of constitution repeatedly crushed, Amit Shah lashed out at Congress on 49th anniversary of Emergency

Union Home Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Amit Shah again targeted the Congress for imposing Emergency in the country. Shah on Tuesday targeted the main opposition Congress, saying the opposition has violated the spirit of the Constitution several times to keep a particular family in power. Also, during the Emergency, Indira Gandhi committed cruel atrocities on the people of the country. On the 49th anniversary of the imposition of Emergency in the country, Amit Shah targeted Congress president Rahul Gandhi and called him the crown prince of the party. About Rahul, Shah said, “He has forgotten that his grandmother Indira Gandhi had imposed Emergency in the country, while his father Rajiv Gandhi in his speech to Parliament on July 23, 1985 said there was nothing wrong with Emergency. Union Home Minister Shah mentioned Rajiv Gandhi on social media that “Indira committed terrible atrocities on people during the Emergency.” Referring to Rahul's father and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Shah added, “Even he (on July 23, 1985) who felt that emergency was necessary for any Prime Minister of this country, he did not impose Emergency, then he is not fit to be the Prime Minister of this country.” “These people take pride in their dictatorial actions, showing that Congress has nothing more than family and power.” Congress has repeatedly subverted our constitution to keep a particular family in power.
