A fire broke out at the house of a former IAS officer near the chief minister's bungalow in Manipur.

A massive fire broke out in a building in the Manipur Secretariat complex, near the official bungalow of Manipur Chief Minister N Brain Singh. At least four fire tenders have been deployed to douse the fire. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, an official said. The building is a few hundred meters away from the Chief Minister's official bungalow, police said. Police said four fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the fire. The cause of the fire is being investigated, he said. Recently the security convoy of the Chief Minister of Manipur was attacked, but he managed to escape just in the nick of time. Now the police have been alerted after a fire broke out near the Chief Minister's residence. An investigation into the fire is underway. It is not yet clear if the fire was started intentionally or if it started spontaneously. Amidst tight security, a vacant house located in Old Lambuln, Imphal was torched on Saturday evening. Officials said that no evidence of the spread of the fire has yet been found. He said that the cause of the fire has not yet been ascertained. This vacant house is located behind the new Manipur Secretariat office building in Babupara, Imphal. In the northeastern state of Manipur, incidents of violence have not stopped in the last few months. Earlier, unidentified assailants set fire to the building of the newly constructed Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya near More town. The building is not open yet.
