Kashmir is ours, it will always be ours…India's blunt response to China-Pakistan comments
India rejected China-Pakistan's comments on Jammu and Kashmir as irrelevant. Responding to media queries on references to Jammu and Kashmir in China and Pakistan's joint statement, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal reiterated India's position and said Kashmir is, is and always will be ours. Along with this, China-Pakistan's joint statement opposed unilateral action to resolve all outstanding issues in South Asia, including Kashmir. “We have seen inappropriate references to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in the joint statement of China and Pakistan dated June 7, 2024,” he said. We categorically reject such references. He added that India's position on the issue was clear and well known to the concerned parties. He said that the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh have been and will always be an integral and indivisible part of India. No other country has the right to comment on this. His first visit in March focused on increasing Chinese investment and aid as his country faces a severe economic crisis. A joint statement at the end of their visit said the two sides stressed the importance of maintaining peace and stability in South Asia, the need to resolve all outstanding disputes and resist any unilateral action. It is said that Pakistan informed China about the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, protesting the joint statement between Pakistan and China. In the statement, the Chinese side said that the Jammu and Kashmir issue is history and should be resolved in a fair and peaceful manner in accordance with the United Nations Charter and bilateral agreements. India has earlier rejected such joint statements by China and Pakistan. On 5 August 2019, Pakistan protested the abrogation of Article 370, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir. India's position is that it wants normal neighborly relations with Pakistan.
