Kharge to attend Narendra Modi's inauguration, what other opposition leaders say?
After the results of the Lok Sabha elections, the swearing-in ceremony will be held today i.e. June 9, in which Narendra Modi will be sworn in as the Prime Minister of the country for the third time. Along with Modi, many MPs and ministers will be inducted into the new cabinet. The event will be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Many world leaders are expected to attend the ceremony, but people are paying special attention to the opposition. While Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has been invited to the swearing-in ceremony today, some leaders have commented on the swearing-in ceremony and said that they have not been invited. Kharge was invited by BJP president Prahalad Joshi late on Saturday night, June 8. Party sources said that Kharge will attend the event. Congress leader KC Venugopal told reporters: Party leaders have not been invited to the swearing-in ceremony. “So far we have not received a call from the government and we have not received any information,” he said. Shiv Sena (UPD) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has expressed her displeasure and said that the invitation has come so late that it was not given with the intention that someone was invited. After taking the oath of office, I believe what matters is how his term will be and how this government will run, he added. #WATCH Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi said, “The call was not made with the intention for which it was sent. There has been a delay in the invitations. I believe how his tenure continues is more important than the swearing-in…” pic.twitter.com/13DN5y2AZ2 — ANI_HindiNews (@AHindinews) June 9, 2024 Congress Rajya Sabha MP Pramod Tiwari also expressed his concern over this. Invitation not received. Congress Rajya Sabha MP Pramod Tiwari said, “I have not received any invitation to the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi or the Indian coalition parties as I am the Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha. The Leader of the Opposition will decide whether to attend the swearing-in ceremony or not. Narendra Modi is keen on inviting foreign guests to make the function an international affair. #WATCH | Delhi: Congress Rajya Sabha MP Pramod Tiwari said, “I have not received any invitation for the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi or Indian alliance parties as I am the Deputy Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha… pic.twitter.com/PAzulUozrD — ANI (@ANI) June 9, 2024 I didn't get a call or didn't want to go: Some have expressed doubts about Mamata going to the function on the one hand. On the other hand, Mamata Banerjee expressed her displeasure as she told the media, “I was not invited nor was I supposed to go to this function.” Sorry, but I can't wish for an unconstitutional, illegal one-party rule, but my wishes are for the country, he said. Speaking on behalf of India Block, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said that only international leaders have been invited for this function and we will think about it if we receive an invitation, but none of our leaders have received an invitation.
