Nearly 67 thousand voters chose NOTA option in Punjab

On Fatehgarh reserved seat, maximum 9188 voters rejected all the candidates contesting.
Punjab News: During the Lok Sabha elections, about 67 thousand voters in Punjab chose NOTA (none of these) while the Congress performed brilliantly and won seven out of 13 seats. According to the data of the Election Commission, 67,158 voters chose NOTA which is 0.49 percent of the total votes cast.
In Fatehgarh reserved seat, the highest number of 9188 voters rejected all the candidates in the fray. In Patiala, 6,681 voters pressed the NOTA button while in Anandpur Sahib, the number of those who chose this option was 6,402.

According to Election Commission data, a total of 6,100 voters opted for NOTA in Ferozepur while 5,552 voters cast their votes in Hoshiarpur; 5,076 in Ludhiana; 4,933 in Bathinda; 4,743 in Jalandhar; 4,143 in Faridkot; 3,830 in Sangrur; 3,714 in Amritsar; 3,452 in Khadoor Sahib and 3,354 in Gurdaspur.
Congress won seven of the 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab, giving a big blow to the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), while two independent candidates also registered surprising victories. AAP won three seats while Sukhbir Singh Badal-led SAD got one seat. BJP could not even open its account in Punjab.
