‘I want to leave my party for personal reasons. It is not like … the party will suffer a loss or its work will get stuck if I move away. The BJP is a national party. It is famous all over the world. So the party’s future doesn’t depend on an individual,’ the Deccan Herald quoted him as saying.
Hembram also said he did not have plans to join a different party and said he wanted to leave politics to ‘do [his] pending work which includes social activities’.

‘He hadn’t been active for quite some time now,’ Majumdar added.
Hembram won the Jhargram seat in 2019 with 44.56% of the vote share.
