Maruti has reduced the prices of its AMT cars, know which models are included
Auto News Desk,Maruti Suzuki has reduced the prices of its AMT cars by up to Rs 5,000. This reduction is applicable on cars sold through Nexa and Arena dealerships, which includes Baleno, Renault, Wagon R, Dzire, Alto K10 and other models.
Why the prices were cut
According to Maruti Suzuki, only 10 per cent of Arena customers opt for automatic cars, while for Nexa buyers the number is over 20 per cent. To further boost its AMT models, Maruti has cut prices of the entire AGS range by up to Rs 5,000, except for the recently launched Swift. Maruti calls its AMT gearbox 'AGS' or Auto Gear Shift.
What did the company say?
Maruti sold around 1.32 lakh AGS cars last year. The company says that after this price update, it expects sales to increase by 15-20 percent in the financial year. Partho Banerjee, sales and marketing head of Maruti Suzuki, said, “We want more and more entry-level customers to upgrade to automatic variants.”
Which cars are included?
Maruti cars and SUVs that have received price cuts include Alto K10, S-Presso, Celerio, Wagon R, Dzire, Ignis, Baleno and Frontex. While models like Brezza, Ertiga, Ciaz and XL6 are offered with torque converter automatic transmission, and hence their prices have not been cut. All the new prices are effective from June 1, 2024. Prices for Maruti's AMT range previously started at Rs 5.56 lakh for the Alto K10 VXI Automatic. But now Maruti's AMT range will start at Rs 5.51 lakh.
The company will launch a limited edition
Apart from this, Maruti Suzuki has announced that it will launch three models; Alto K10, S-Presso and a new Dream Edition variant for the Celerio – priced at Rs 4.99 lakh. This means that the price of the Celerio will be reduced by Rs 38,000 with the new variant, as the entry-level LXI is currently priced at Rs 5.37 lakh. These limited Dream Edition models will be available in the month of June only.
