It was decided that as soon as the Lok Sabha elections are over, the toll on the National Highways will be increased. As per that decision, the toll tax has been increased on all the National Highways of India from today, Monday. However, questions are being raised on this decision of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) that why there was a need to increase the Toll Tax even after so much inflation.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has informed that like every year, the amount of toll tax has been increased. It is linked to inflation based on the Wholesale Price Index (CPI). Currently, there are about 855 toll plazas on all national highways. The increase in toll fee is likely to increase the price of daily necessities.
