Skoda compact SUV spotted during testing in the Indian market, will compete with Tata Nexon
Car News Desk, Earlier this year, Skoda announced its plans to work on a new sub-four-meter SUV for the Indian market. The company has organized a contest to decide the name of this car. Currently this car is being tested, whose spy pictures are currently going viral on the internet.
what did you see in the picturesAs seen in the spy pictures, Skoda's new sub-four-meter SUV is heavily camouflaged. This testing mule appears to be a production ready model. Some of the select elements seen here like split headlamp design with sleek sweptback LED DRLs, square LED headlamp cluster, wide air dam and new LED taillights give it a unique look.
Design
Talking about other features, the 2025 Skoda compact SUV gets black roof rails, new front and rear bumpers, blacked-out steel wheel covers, high-mounted stop lamp, tailgate-mounted number plate recess, ORVMs mounted behind the A-pillar and a quarter glass area for the rear doors.
Powertrain and Competition To avail tax benefits with this sub-four-meter SUV, Skoda may offer the new SUV only with a 1.0-litre, TSI turbo-petrol engine, which generates 114bhp power and 178Nm of torque. Its transmission options can be 6-speed manual and torque converter gearbox. After launch, it will compete with Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon, Nissan Magnite, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue and Renault Kiger. Currently, this segment is dominated by Nexon, which has the option of an electric powertrain along with a petrol and a diesel, while the recently launched Mahindra XUV 3XO in the segment is also getting a very good response in the market, as it is equipped with many new first in segment features.
