Munger News: Even the dead seek solace here during their last farewell.
Munger News: Virendra Kumar, Munger. Life and death are eternal realities of this world. Whoever is born is bound to die one day. After death, every religion has a custom of giving a respectful farewell to the dead body. In Hinduism the dead body is cremated. Its entire process takes place in the crematorium. The crematorium has been running for years on the banks of the Ganges at Laldarwaja in Munger district. But this crematorium lacks even basic facilities. The last farewell of the dead at the crematorium seems to be seeking solace. This can easily be seen from the helpless condition of the people who went to the crematorium to bid their last farewell. A crematorium has been constructed at Laldarwaja crematorium and the crematorium has been closed for three days. But due to some reason or other it is closed for four to five months in a year. For the last three days, the graveyard has been locked. Because the transformer set up for this is faulty. Couldn't fix it even after three days. Due to this, the bodies of the dead have to be cremated by setting up logs. While the government has renamed the crematorium as Mukti Dham and is renovating it by spending several lakhs of rupees, there is no clean drinking water or toilet facility. But the Lal Darwaza crematorium is still plagued by problems. 25 to 30 bodies are cremated daily at the Lal Darwaza crematorium. People come from far and wide to bid their last farewell. But there is a severe shortage of drinking water for them in this forest. However, the Corporation has installed a water cooler in the circular dam at Chudugat. But it has been locked for the past few months. Due to this, the people coming here have to resort to drinking water. Leave a urinal here, there are no toilet facilities. A pyre takes at least three hours to burn. If someone feels the need to defecate during this time, people are forced to defecate in the open. Due to lack of shade, the Lal Darwaza cremation ground is not open to the public till today. This is the reason why dead bodies are burnt near Mothira Dam when the Ganga comes near during floods. One kilometer has to be traveled when the Ganga is far away. But this cremation ground does not even have a shed. Apart from Munger district, people from Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura and Jamui also come to this Muktidam to perform the last rites of the dead body. It is believed that if the dead body is cremated in this temple, the soul will get salvation. More than 50 people participate in each funeral procession. Be it scorching sun or rain, they must live under the open sky. A tribute tax is collected at the crematorium; A regular amount is fixed by the Corporation for GST. But here Dom Raja collects tax by blackmailing the affected families in the name of tax. They were not even given a ticket for this. 5500 was taken from the family who came from Jamalpur on Monday to cremate the dead body. Dom Raja collects ghat tax and mukhagni from every family there. However, even if there are complaints, the municipal administration does not control it. Dom Raja's recovery is believed to involve both municipal officials and local criminals. The Municipal Corporation collects tax but we have come from Shankarpur village of Sadar block to burn dead bodies. There is no water or toilet facilities in this scorching heat. Due to this, the public attending the funeral has been put to great difficulty. Corporation collects tax. But, not comfortable.-Vipin Kumar, Shankarpur Water cooler installed but not working, check there. Water cooler installed. But he didn't move. More than 100 people attended the funeral. Those who are quenching their thirst by buying bottled water. They have ordered 20 liter jars and glasses and are providing water to the people. If there was an organization here, it would have saved the expenses of this grieving family – Subhash Kumar, Jamalpur After people defecate, there is no toilet facility here. When people defecate, they have to go to forests and bushes growing in fields. There is no water facility here. Although the municipal administration is looking into this, it too has become a mute spectator. The district administration should pay attention to this – Nawal Kumar, Naya Dhola, Jamalpur, where money is extorted like tribute. We are from Jamalpur. 5500 should be paid before cremating the dead body. A poor family will face many hardships. If the municipal administration had arranged to collect the fixed amount here, perhaps the problem would not have arisen – Political Baswan, Jamalpur, if you walk a kilometer, there is nothing in the name of Sudugadu here. Today, if a crematorium is built in an approved manner, one does not have to come a kilometer in the scorching heat. Look, there is a dead body burning. We have come to sit in the shade at Ring Dam. There should have been at least basic facilities here – Subhash Kumar, letter to Jamalpur Dept.: Municipal Commissioner, a model crematorium is to be constructed here on behalf of Patco. The land here is in Begusarai district. A letter has been sent to the DM there to get NOC. Along with its construction, all the basic amenities are available here. We don't know if the water cooler is bad. Will be fixed immediately. The electric crematorium is closed due to transformer failure. A letter has been written to the power department to repair the transformer Municipal News: Prabhat Khabar seeks solace here.
