New Delhi: On June 5, Joe Berlinger’s documentary series Hitler and the Nazis: Evil on Trial, which is about the Third Reich, will make its premiere on Netflix by streaming in its entirety.
The series explores the ascent and fall of Hitler and his supporters, who were empowered by antisemitism, censorship, and propaganda, through the lens of the Nuremberg trials and the first-hand accounts of American writer William L. Shirer.
About the Docuseries
The Rise And Fall Of The Third Reich, written and published in 1960 by writer William L. Shirer, is the basis for Joe Berlinger’s film Hitler And The Nazis: Evil On Trial. Curiously, an artificial intelligence rendition of Shirer, who passed away in 1993, also narrates the whole documentary.
The story begins with Hitler’s rise to power and continues through the rise and collapse of the Nazi leadership, including the regime’s anti-Semitic policies, censorship, and propaganda.
In this six-hour series, set on the Eastern Front of WWII, re-enactments and talking heads will portray the story of the Third Reich via a narrative based on the Nuremberg trials. To Berlinger, the series stands out from previous WWII documentaries because of the journalist Shirer’s participation.
Analyzing the events in Nazi Germany will show viewers the value of democracy, the vulnerability of democracies to internal threats, and the need of protecting democracies.
Was truly an honor to be asked by my good friend @joeberlinger to work on the musical score for the upcoming @netflix “Hitler and the Nazis: Evil on Trial” series.
