Counting of votes will be done at 117 centers in Punjab

Sibin C said that a total of 117 counting centres have been set up in 48 buildings at 27 different places in the state.
Punjab Lok Sabha Results 2024 News In Hindi: Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C said that the counting of votes for the Lok Sabha elections will start on June 4, 2024 at 8:00 am and in various states. A total of 64 counting observers from All India Services and Civil Services cadre will monitor the counting of votes. These officers have been asked to ensure that the counting of votes is done in a fair, efficient and transparent manner strictly following the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India.
Giving details about the counting centres, Sibin C said that a total of 117 counting centres have been set up in 48 buildings at 27 different locations across the state. He said that most of these centres are located at the district headquarters, while 7 places are located outside the district headquarters, namely Ajnala, Baba Bakala, Abohar, Malout, Dhuri, Chhokra Rahon-Nawanshahr and Khooni Mazra (Kharar). He further said that counting will not be done at the district headquarters Sangrur and Nawanshahr.
The Chief Electoral Officer said that special priority has been given to the security of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) kept in the strong rooms at these counting centers. These strong rooms are equipped with double lock system and CCTVs. Strong security arrangements have been made through surveillance. He further said that representatives of political parties and official employees should install LEDs outside each strong room. Security can be monitored through screens that show live footage around the strong room. Apart from this, a visitor register has also been installed by the on-duty staff to keep a record of every person coming here. Along with this, the situation is being monitored on a daily basis by the officials to ensure strict adherence to all protocols.
Talking about the security of the counting centres, Sibin C said that a three-tier security system has been set up around these centres. He said that adequate security arrangements have been made with strict restrictions on access to the counting centres and only accredited or authorised persons are allowed inside. CCTV cameras have been installed to ensure comprehensive monitoring of the counting centres. Along with this, quick response teams are deployed to deal with any emergency or incident immediately to maintain the sanctity of the election process.
