Bad news came for Kejriwal as soon as he reached Tihar Jail, the court has now given this order…
New Delhi. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal surrendered before Tihar officials on Sunday, but as soon as he reached the jail, he got a bad news. In fact, during an online hearing, a Delhi court sent him to judicial custody till June 5 in the alleged liquor scam. After the interim bail ended, the CM appeared in the court through video conference from Tihar Jail. On-duty judge Sanjeev Agarwal passed this order.
It is known that while hearing Kejriwal's petition on May 10, the Supreme Court granted him interim bail for 21 days to campaign in the Lok Sabha elections. His bail period ended on Sunday, June 2. However, he had requested the Supreme Court to extend his bail by 7 days on medical grounds.
The judge of the local court issued this order on an application of the Enforcement Directorate (ED). In its application, the ED had requested to extend his judicial custody for 14 days. The ED had filed this application in the court on May 20, when Kejriwal came out of jail on interim bail. The court, while mentioning that Kejriwal will be sent to judicial custody till June 5, said that the concerned judge is going to issue an order on his application for interim bail on health grounds on that day.
In fact, before surrendering in Tihar, Kejriwal paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat Samadhi and offered prayers at Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place. Addressing party workers, Kejriwal said, 'I am going back to jail, not because I was involved in corruption, but because I raised my voice against dictatorship.
