New Delhi: The high school athletic career of LeBron James is chronicled in the American biographical sports drama film Shooting Stars. Adapted from Lebron James’ and Buzz Bissinger’s 2009 book of the same name, the film stars Mookie Cook and was directed by Chris Robinson.
Anyone who follows the NBA knows all about LeBron James’ meteoric rise to fame and the incredible story of his time at Akron, Ohio’s St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, where he became known to the world. First time we’ll see this tale told in a biopic format. The film, named Shooting Stars, adapted from the same name novel by James and Buzz Bissinger is ready to be released on Netflix on June 3.
Plot
In Shooting Stars, we obtain the incredible backstory of a basketball superhero—LeBron James—and his childhood friends’ meteoric rise to national prominence as the top high school team in the nation. This remarkable feat sets in motion James’s incredible career as the league’s all-time leading scorer, two-time Olympic gold medalist, and four-time NBA champion.
Taking place in the ’90s, Shooting Stars will follow James and his three friends as they navigate adulthood with an innate need to leave an impression. To become the greatest high school basketball team in the country, they will face many challenges, but they will also face many opportunities for growth and success. Among these challenges are racist comments, negative coverage in the media, and heartbreaking team defeats.

Cast and Crew
Cast members include Marquis Mookie Cook as a young LeBron James, Caleb McLaughlin as James’s buddy and teammate Dru Joyce III, and Avery Serell Wills Jr. as Willie McGee. Sterling Henderson will also play Romeo Travis, while Algee Smith will portray Illya McGee. Numerous famous actors will also appear in numerous significant roles.
