Jammu: JKRTC action after Aknoor bus accident, 6 employees suspended
A day after the bus accident in Jammu and Kashmir's Aknoor, the transport department has taken major action. The department has suspended 6 employees who were negligent. 22 people died and 64 people were injured in this bus accident that took place on May 30. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the department has now taken strict action. This decision was taken after a meeting of officials. A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Home Principal Secretary Chandrakar Bharti. Following this, Transport Department Secretary Neeraj Kumar has been suspended and an inquiry has been ordered. Kumar said, “Pending a full investigation into the incident, the officers posted at the District Transport Office will be suspended with immediate effect. On the evening of May 30, a bus full of passengers fell into a deep ditch at Aknoor in Jammu. 22 people died and 64 were injured in this accident. Immediately after the accident, the injured were rushed to the hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. Preliminary investigation revealed that the bus that crashed was on its way to Shivkodi for darshan of Baba Bolenath. The bus fell into a ditch at Akhnoor while taking a sharp turn. The driver lost control and the bus overturned straight into the ditch when the vehicle came on the opposite side in a sudden turn. The entire matter is being monitored by the higher authorities and an investigation is underway.
