After 75 days of election work, the Prime Minister reached Kanyakumari on Thursday to meditate as the campaign noise died down last evening. Prime Minister Modi will meditate in Dhyana Mandapam till the evening of June 1. This is the place where Swami Vivekananda meditated in 1892. There is a statue of Vivekananda where Prime Minister Modi meditates. Prime Minister Modi arrived in Kanyakumari after the election noise subsided. First he went to Bhagwati Amman. Dressed in traditional South Indian attire, he entered the PM Modi temple with bare feet and cupped hands. Following this, the priests in the temple conducted a formal pooja to the Prime Minister. He attended the evening aarti. He crawled around the temple. The priests presented him with underwear. PM Modi was also presented with a picture of Mother Devi. Amman temple can be said to be one of the 108 Shakti Peethas. This temple is about 3000 years old. Prime Minister Modi reached Vivekananda Rock Meditation Hall in a boat, where Vivekananda did penance after the Puja at Amman Temple. Vivekananda and Ram Krishna Paramahamsa folded hands in the meditation hall. Offer flowers. Following this, PM Modi sat in meditation. The Vivekananda Rock Memorial, where Prime Minister Modi meditates, is the same spot where Swami Vivekananda swam before leaving for Chicago 132 years ago. He meditated and did penance for three days. The penance at Kanyakumari had a profound impact on Swami Vivekananda's life. Here Vivekananda is believed to have received divine knowledge of Mother India and dreamed of the India he grew up in.
