The Center on Wednesday announced the provision of e-migration services through Common Service Centers (CSCs) to help blue-collar workers at the grassroots level. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and CSC e-Governance Services, the IT Ministry said in a statement. As part of the MoU, the e-Migrate portal of the Ministry of External Affairs will be integrated with the portal of CSCs so that more services can be provided to citizens through CSCs. Services offered include registration of applicants on the e-Migrate portal through CSC; Uploading and processing of documents required by applicants on the e-Migrate portal; Reservation of support for medical and other services required by migrant workers or applicants registered on the e-Migrate portal through CSCs; And to create awareness about e-migrate services among the citizens across the country. The ministry, which monitors issues of migrant workers, has seen an increase in the number of Indians going abroad for employment in the past few years. Besides, the contribution of their remittances is also important. The e-Migrate project was launched to address the issues faced by migrant workers, make the migration process online and connect foreign employers and registered recruitment agencies and insurance companies on a common platform for safe and legal migration. Migrant workers will now avail these facilities, with more than 5.50 lakh CSCs providing more than 700 digital services to assist citizens. The MoU has been signed with an aim to expand avenues for safe and legal migration at the grassroots level, the IT ministry said. Its special objective is to help Indian citizens who have gone abroad in search of employment. They should stop exploitation by unscrupulous elements.
