I have many enemies and I am proud of it… Why did the Chief Justice of the High Court say this in his farewell speech?
I have a lot of enemies and I am proud of that. I am answering for the Constitution and not for any other person… says Madhya Pradesh High Court Chief Justice Ravi Malimath. He said the above in his farewell speech. Justice Malimath took aim at those who spent months and years trying to negatively impact his life. She said, 'There are people who have spent months and years trying to negatively impact my life. They have failed miserably because I have done what no other Chief Justice or judge in the country has done. No matter how hard they try, they will not match my achievements…' What did Chief Justice Ravi Malimath say? Justice Malimad added, “I can say a lot at this point, I can give names and make it the focus of the tabloids.” I am sure my critics are also anxiously watching what I may say during my farewell. However, the morally bankrupt, dishonest and depraved are not worthy of discussion. They are definitely not worth my time. I choose to serve the Constitution. I choose to do what is right, even at my own expense, because that is what is expected of a judge. The judge also pointed out that before his tenure in the Madhya Pradesh High Court, he was transferred several times as Chief Justice, which was not possible. Then he said, I was transferred from Karnataka to Uttarakhand and made Chief Justice there. Later I was transferred from Uttarakhand to Himachal Pradesh. Eventually I was elevated to the position of Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court. I was expected to be disappointed with these transfers, but I wasn't. “I did the opposite… instead of 9 or 90 people who wanted to use the court for their own benefit, I chose to serve the 9 crore people of Madhya Pradesh,” he said. In his speech, Malimad said that many people have tried to influence the functioning of this court during his tenure here. I have excluded each of them from the system. I will do it again if I want. Justice Malimath said he was proud of the changes brought in the High Court, including increasing the working hours of the court by half an hour daily to deal with pending cases. He said that during my tenure I have solved more than 65,600 cases. In Madhya Pradesh alone, over 17,700 cases have been disposed of in 538 days.
