Bahujan Samaj Party has declared Athar Jamal Lari as its candidate here. There is a contest between Narendra Modi and Ajay Rai on this seat.

While 41 candidates had filed nominations from this seat, out of which 33 candidates' nominations were cancelled and one candidate withdrew his nomination. In this way, a total of seven candidates including PM Modi are in the fray in Varanasi. These include the name of alliance candidate Ajay Rai. If we talk about the last two elections, 26 candidates tried their luck in the year 2019. In this election, SP's Shalini Rai stood second. In 2014, a total of 42 candidates were in the electoral fray from Varanasi, in this election, Arvind Kejriwal of Aam Aadmi Party stood second.

However, Rajesh Kumar Mishra of Congress was able to win only once in 2004. Most of the voters in this area are upper castes. These include Brahmins, Bhumihars and Jaiswals, apart from these, Muslims and OBCs are also in large numbers. In this election 2024, apart from Narendra Modi of BJP and Ajay Rai of Congress, five more candidates are included. These include Athar Jamal Lari of Bahujan Samaj Party, Kolisetti Shiv Kumar of Yug Tulsi Party, Gagan Prakash Yadav from Apna Dal Kamerawadi, independent candidate Dinesh Kumar Yadav and independent candidate Sanjay Kumar are in the fray.
