The name of the accused is Tyrese Haspil. His age is 25 years. The name of the CEO was Faheem Saleha, whose age was 33 years. Faheem was the CEO of Nigeria based motorbike startup Gokada.
I did not want my girlfriend to know about the theft
Tyrese told the police that he did not want his French girlfriend Marine Chavuz to know or else she would leave him. So he committed the murder to hide his theft.
About 3.5 crore rupees were stolen
Tyrese’s lawyer told the court that Tyrese forcefully entered the apartment, hit the CEO with a taser and then stabbed him to death. The lawyer tried to convince the court that his client was suffering from extreme emotional disturbance, which led to the murder. He was worried that if his girlfriend found out that he had stolen $400,000 (about Rs 3 crore 35 lakh), she would leave him.
According to a report in the New York Times, Tyrese said that he had two options: either he commits suicide or he kills the CEO. He chose to kill his boss instead of killing himself.

CEO Saleh came to know in 2020 that his PA was stealing money from the corporate account. In the year 2020, 90 thousand dollars were missing from the corporate account. Despite knowing this, Saleh asked Tyrus to return the money instead of taking any punitive action against him.
