'We cannot fight Russia but NATO is ready', why did the Hungarian Prime Minister say this
Russia Ukraine War: Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Budapest is trying legal options to maintain its relevance in the NATO group. Hungary has been isolated in the group due to its different stance from member countries in the Ukraine conflict.
Russia-Ukraine War: NATO country Hungary has expressed a different opinion from the US and other member countries of the group on the Russia-Ukraine war. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that he has a different opinion than the member countries on this matter. He said that Hungary is considering its role in the NATO group. Talking to a radio channel, he said that Hungary will try to avoid any such conflict that can lead the member countries to a direct confrontation with Russia. The Hungarian PM said that due to its stance on Ukraine, it has already been weakened in the military organization. However, it still has the right to agree or disagree in any NATO operation.
According to the report, in a conversation with the radio channel, Viktor Orban said that due to not supporting Kiev in the Ukraine conflict, it has been put in the role of a non-participant in the military group. Hungary is now adopting legal options to remain in the group. However, Hungary still has the right to agree or disagree in any operation of the military organization.
Prime Minister Orban said that Hungary is trying legal options to maintain its relevance in the NATO group. He said that Hungary wants to work as a peace making force within NATO. Apart from this, it wants to stay away from such NATO operations which are outside its perimeter and which do not pose a threat to the group. He said that for this we need to adopt a new approach.
Use of nuclear weapons
He said that today NATO headquarters Brussels and Washington are preparing for war to what extent. Looking at this preparation it seems that the military block has directly taken out weapons to fight Russia. He said that it should be clearly understood as if the whole of Europe has adopted the path of war with Russia. The Prime Minister says that there are many member countries of the block who are trying to promote this conflict. He also mentioned the dire consequences of this war. PM Orban said that this war will not only be between NATO countries but also between the European Union and Russia in which there will always be a fear of use of nuclear weapons.
Hungary did not support Kiev
Hungary has opposed NATO funding and arming Ukraine since the start of the conflict in February 2022. Hungary has not sent any military aid to Kiev since the war with Russia began. Budapest has called on both countries to ceasefire and resolve disputes diplomatically.
