Car News Desk – Sometimes we need to get away from the city to refresh ourselves and also take a break from our work. The best way to do this is to take a road trip, but to a different place. This time we went to India's first wilderness and to get there we used the biggest SUV available in India. The car we are talking about is a big Lexus LX and it is unique compared to most supercars as only a few units of it have been allotted in India despite the global demand being huge. That's why taking it on a road trip was the best way to test it further. With a length of over five meters and a grille, it can even accommodate a small car.
Look and designThe Lexus LX has a tremendous road presence and has the biggest grille ever. It stretches across the entire front and with sharp headlamps, its design looks unreal. The rest of the SUV is like an old-school luxury SUV, resembling a Land Cruiser. Its 22-inch wheels also look small, which shows how big the LX really is.
Driving Experience We had a slow start in the morning due to Delhi traffic but it took us 7 hours to drive to Forest Retreat. Sitting inside the big LX attracted a lot of eyes from the traffic, as if driving a luxury yacht. It is huge but you get used to its size but you have to be a little careful. Coming out of Delhi, we had breakfast and moved on. And it was time to move on to the LX. Its 3.3 liter twin turbo V6 engine generates over 300bhp of power and 700Nm of torque, which is enough to take it to great speeds. Despite its weight and size, the big LX handles well and drives smoothly. Inside, our cold coffee was cold thanks to the cooler box and the ventilated seats kept us cool. Despite not having massage seats, the seats were very comfortable and you can travel long distances without breaks.
How was the Lexus LX in the wild, Despite the large fuel tank, the LX had low fuel consumption, which was expected. Overall mileage of 8 kmpl seems good for a car of this size. We had now reached the north-west of Chandigarh and being a forest reserve area, it was cut off from the city, which meant that there were narrow roads to reach the place. With the LX, these narrow double-way roads were probably the worst thing going for it. However, the LX managed to navigate these narrow roads with ease, with light steering and cameras all around coming in handy. Spread across 1800 acres of forest, this forest area is quiet. We didn't take the LX. As it is a capable off-roader, but with a price tag of Rs 3 crore, we didn't take any risk and it was a right decision. After staying here for a day, we came back.
The complete package with luxuryWith a limited number of cars being allocated in India, the LX won't be seen that often but it is also different from any other SUV as it has more luxury with the old school SUV feel as well as its strong genes.
