Sensex opened with a gain of 41.65 points in the early trade as the stock market saw a slight uptick.
Stock market: Due to weak trend in global markets, the domestic stock market started off sluggish in early trade on Thursday. However, with the opening of the market, BSE, Sensex saw a slight uptick and it opened 41.65 points higher at 74,262.71 points. Meanwhile, NSE's Nifty also opened the trade up 20.1 points at 22,617.90 points. In the trading session on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, investors' capital surged as the market opened, with a total market value of Rs 4,15,94,033.72 crore for all stocks listed on the BSE. As the market opened on Thursday, May 23, 2024, it touched Rs 4,16,56,080.12 crore. That means the investors' capital has increased by Rs.62,046.4 crore. Gold is spooked by reports from Federal Reserve officials, with 76 of the 30 stocks listed on the Sensex moving higher. SBI, L&T and IndusInd Bank were the top gainers. At the same time, Power Grid, Sun Pharma and JSW Steel saw sharp declines. Currently 2339 shares are traded on BSE. Out of this, 1544 stocks showed strengthening trend and 653 stocks showed declining trend. Whereas, there is no change in 142. Apart from this, 76 stocks hit one-year highs. The RBI opened the treasury for the government and had a track record of paying dividends.
