Pak Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said- trade relations with India are suspended due to ‘heavy duty’
Islamabad. Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has said that trade relations between the two countries are suspended since 2019 due to India imposing ‘heavy duty’ on imports from Pakistan after the Pulwama attack. “After the Pulwama attack, India decided to impose 200 per cent duty on imports from Pakistan, suspend Kashmir bus service and cross-border trade,” Dar said in a written reply in the National Assembly on Saturday. Dar is Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister. He is also the Prime Minister.
According to the report of ‘Dawn’ newspaper, Dar was replying to the question of Pakistan Peoples Party MP Sharmila Farooqui, in which she had sought information about the trade challenges faced by Pakistan in its relations with neighboring countries, especially India. During a press conference in London in March, Dar had highlighted the eagerness of Pakistan’s business community to resume trade activities with India. However, his office later clarified that Pakistan has no plans to resume trade ties with India.
