BSNL: Threat to the existence of this government company, employees appealed for help – ..
The country’s largest telecom company BSNL is now facing an existential crisis. This claim is from BSNL Employees Union. He has raised this issue by writing a letter to the Central Government and has requested for its intervention.
BSNL’s crisis deepens
In a letter sent to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on Saturday, May 4, the BSNL Employees Union, an organization of employees of the state-owned telecom company, has raised several issues. The union says that a large number of customers are leaving BSNL. According to the union, BSNL customers are moving away due to lack of high-speed data service, due to which the state-owned company is facing an existential crisis.
Due to which customers are turning away
The union has held TCS responsible for this. Actually, BSNL has been working towards restoring 4G services for some time. Fast data service is essential to survive in the highly competitive telecom sector. Private telecom companies like Airtel, Jio, Vodafone Idea have already started providing 5G services. In such a situation, customers are migrating away due to BSNL not even having 4G service.
There has been a decrease of crores of customers in the last financial year
The letter cites media reports on how customers are moving away from BSNL. According to the letter, 1.8 crore customers broke ties with BSNL during the last financial year ending March 2024. Of these, 23 lakh customers left BSNL in the month of March alone. This shows that the government is serious about the crisis on BSNL. The union has again suggested that BSNL should start 4G services using Vodafone Idea’s network.
