Faf du Plessis created history, became the first RCB batsman to defeat Gayle

 

Faf du Plessis played an important role in Royal Challengers Bangalore’s fourth win of IPL 2024. In the match played against Gujarat Titans, RCB captain Faf du Plessis batted brilliantly and scored 64 runs in 23 balls. In this innings he hit 10 fours and 3 sixes. With this inning, Du Plessis created a record which even great batsmen like Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle could not achieve.

In fact, with his inning of 64 runs, Faf du Plessis became the first RCB batsman to score more than 50 runs in the powerplay. Earlier this record was in the name of Chris Gayle, who had scored 50-50 runs in the seasons of 2012, 2013 and 2015. But now captain Faf du Plessis has claimed this record of Gayle. In the match against Gujarat, Faf du Plessis was out in 5.5 overs. That means he returned to the pavilion one ball before the end of the powerplay.

Faf du Plessis batted stormily in the powerplay and scored 64 runs. Faf has become the batsman scoring the most runs in the first six overs for RCB. RCB captain has broken Chris Gayle’s 12 year old record. Gayle had scored 50 runs in the powerplay in 2012. In the first six overs, RCB scored 92 runs at the loss of just one wicket, which is the sixth highest score in the history of this league.

Faf du Plessis became the first batsman

Let us tell you that Du Plessis completed his half-century in just 18 balls while playing an innings of 64 runs, after which he became the second batsman to score the fastest half-century for RCB. The record for the fastest half-century for a team is in the name of Chris Gayle, who scored a half-century in 17 balls against Pune Warriors in 2013.
